Spotlight: Nisolo Shoes

More friends of Good & Fair Clothing out in the world creating beautiful products. Check out our latest spotlight on Nisolo! Also, some of the founders are from Austin, Texas, just like us!

Nisolo began when a driven  group of people in Northern Peru started working in and out of the homes of impoverished women. With a focus on empowerment, the Nisolo team discovered hope, determination, and loads of potential all over the developing world. One morning in the community of Trujillo, the sound of hammering caught their attention as they helped a woman balance the books of her small convenience store. They found her husband handcrafting a handsome, high-quality men’s leather dress shoe. The Nisolo was surprised that he struggled to make ends meet in spite of his quality product. They decided to help him and other small-scale shoemakers by expanding the opportunity they have for selling their goods. They empower the locals by donating 10% of their profits to education programs in the neighborhoods where their products are made. In a few words, Nisolo Shoes hopes to influence a growing culture of conscious consumerism in the U.S. as well as to offer job creation and access to quality education for this Peruvian community and others around the world.

Doing good, with style

We all get urges to buy new things, with clothes often near the top of the list. Luckily, you can do some good and get your shopping fix at second-hand shops. Sometimes the fit isn’t quite right, but you can perfect your look by altering the clothes. Here’s an easy tutorial on how to hem your own jeans. Get an extra dose of good karma by wearing our boxers or undies underneath.
