…and the first G&FC customer is? Rachel Yantis!

First off, we want to give Rachel a huge thank you for being our first customer. We here at G&FC are super excited about our new website and online store. Our shop is up and running. We asked Rachel if she wouldn’t mind telling us why she chose to shop with us and what it meant to her. Check out her response:

As a supporter of Fair Trade, there are some products you wish you could purchase Fair Trade but you just aren’t sure where to get them – like, say… undies! So, I was delighted to learn about Good & Fair Clothing and to think that something as practical and let’s face it, as daily, as underwear is now easily accessible.

I believe the journey towards ethical consumerism begins by asking a simple question: “Who made this?”

For years, the questions I asked about the things I bought sounded more like this:

Can I get a good deal on it?

Will this make me look good?

How much can I save?

The main difference here is the pronoun, right? Look at all the “I” and “me” in those questions! The truth is that my purchasing decisions aren’t just about me. I have the power in my wallet to impact people all around the globe – for better or for worse.

What I love about Good & Fair’s undies is that not only do I know that the people who made them are being treated with dignity and receiving a fair wage, the undies are well designed and fun! It sure seems like a win-win to me. So, what are you waiting for? Fair Trade Your Underwear!!

Rachel Yantis works on behalf of the world’s poor everyday as she heads up Trading Post and Fair Trader programs at Trade as One in Santa Cruz, California.
